The Vice President of Sports Journalists Association of Sindh (SJAS) has made the entire association proud by acquiring fifth position in the “video reporting” category award of the world recognized, AIPS (International Sports Press Association).
According to the details, the President of SJAS, Muhammad Asif Khan, Secretary-General Muhammad Asghar Azeem, Senior Vice President Zubair Nazeer Khan, Vice President Mansoor Ali Baig, Secretary Finance Irshad Ali, Joint Secretary Shahid Usman Saati, Secretary Information Maqsood Ahmed along with the Executive Committee and the entire members of SJAS congratulated Vice President Mehmood Riaz, senior reporter 24 News, on getting this video category award.
President Muhammad Asif Khan applauded Mehmood Riaz for his outstanding work and said Mehmood has always works differently to make a mark for himself. The President added that by securing the fifth position, in the prestigious AIPS award, Mehmood has made Pakistan’s sports journalists proud. In his video, Mehmood Riaz, highlighted Jannat Gul, a striving martial arts coach, in such a wonderful way, which leads other journalists to follow in his footsteps.
Secretary-General of SJAS, Muhammad Asghar Azeem said out of 129 countries the fifth position for Mehmood Riaz – off 1871 entries – is a great honor for SJAS. Earlier SJAS President Muhammad Asif Khan has also acquired a prominent position in these awards.
Moreover, the stories of Executive Committee members Alamzaib Khan and Suleman Khan get the space on the AIPS website is also evidence of sports journalism stature in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, secretary AIPS Asia and President Pakistan Sports Writers Federation (PSWF) Amjad Aziz Malik, Senior Vice President PSWF Syed Nasar Iqbal, Secretary PSWF Zahid Farooq Malik, and Executive Committee member PSWF Imtiaz Farooq Narinja also paid rich tribute to Mehmood Riaz on this outstanding feat.
After an interesting game, Vice-chancellor Karachi University XI beat Sports Journalists Association of Sindh (SJAS) XI by 2-1 to win the Pakistan Day football cup. Registrar Karachi University, Professor Dr. Abdul Waheed vows to continue sporting events with SJAS in the future. He appreciated the university’s teachers and announced to initiate inter-faculty events soon.
SJAS’ President, Muhammad Asif Khan, and Secretary-General Muhammad Asghar Azeem. meanwhile, thanked Dr. Khalid Mehmood Iraqi, the vice-chancellor of Karachi University, and Rashid Ali Qureshi, Director of Physical Education for facilitating the football match.
The match was played at the Karachi University football ground between the Sports Journalists Association of Sindh (SJAS) and the team consists of teachers and other Staff of various facilities. In the 15th, of the match, SJAS’ forward Maqsood Ahmed deflected the ball to the net however the opponents’ Mohammad Adil equaled the lead the next minute. The first half ended in a 1-1 draw. In the second half too, both teams played an attacking game however SJAS could not convert chances into goals. In the dying moments of the match, VC XI’s Atiq Razzaq slipped a goal to earn a lead which proved decisive.
At the end of the game Register Karachi University Professor Dr. Abdul Waheed, Vice-Chancellor Humdard University Professor Dr. Syed Shabih ul Hasan, SJAS’ patron Khawaja Ahmed Mustaqeem, SJAS President Muhammad Asif Khan, President, Karachi University Teachers Society Professor Dr.Shah Ali-ul-Qadar and Director Physically Education Rashid Ali Qureshi distributed prizes amongst players.
