A three day first ever International Sports Press Association (AIPS) Asia Youth Reporters Training Workshop commenced here at a local hotel yesterday.
The event were organised by Sports Journalists Association of Sindh (SJAS) in collaboration with AIPS Asia in the 71 years of Pakistan, where 7 young sports journalists from Afghanistan, Iran and Nepal are participating, while journalists from Malaysia and Saudi Arabia are likely to join tomorrow( Tuesday). Young sports journalists from Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta and FATA are also attending the event.
Former Minister for Sports and Patron SJAS , Dr Syed Junaid Ali Shah while welcoming the all the participants and said that the sports is a main part of our society and the sports journalists can play a positive role to establish that Pakistan is a safe country for sports lover as well as sportsmen.
He also praised SJAS for arranging the workshop and hailed their services.
Amjad Aziz Malik, Secretary General AIPS ASIA and President of Pakistan Sports Writers Federation (PSWF) warmly welcomed all the participants.
This is a historic day of Pakistan. These kinds of workshops would help young journalists to polish their skills.
He said that such training program organizing on daily basis in European countries.
He further said that I am really thankful to the entire SJAS team for organizing a great event here.
He told that the participants that he could have arranged that workshop in Peshawar his home town but I enjoy working with SJAS. SJAS played a vital role in the field of sports. I think no other association can beat SJAS.
“The youngsters gathered here for nourishment of their journalistic skills,” Amjad added.
Chief Guest, Senior Sindh Minister, Nasir Hussain Shah said on the occasion that
there was a great event in the history of Pakistan.
I congratulate SJAS and Amjad Aziz Malik for their efforts.
Minister said that we will provide every facility to foreign journalist and tell foreigner must to visit interior Sindh.
Nasir Hussain Shah assured the media persons present on the occasion that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will provide all kind of support to journalists community.
“We are always available for journalists financially and trying to solve their problems,” added Nasir Hussain Shah. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister hailed SJAS services and appreciated the entire association for organizing this event.
Sindh Minister, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah lauded the services of Amjad Aziz Malik in the field of sports and organizing various events outlined that they made their country proud globally.
Senior journalists, Iqbal Jamil, Mehmood Sham, Anisuddin Khan, Zubair Nazeer Khan, Kamal Siddique, Atiq-ur-Rehman and Patron SJAS Dr Farhan Essa addressing on the occasion said that the new generation from this field may benefit from such seminars and trainings.
They shared their experience of making news and how to make headline healthier.
Later, Minister Nasir Hussain Shah presented souvenir to senior journalists Mehmood Sham, Anisuddin Khan, Iqbal Jamil, Amjad Aziz Malik, Atiq-ur-Rehman, Secretary Sports Sindh, Haroon Ahmed Khan, Patrons SJAS Farhan Essa and Junaid Ali Shah.

The visiting journalists were taken to mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam, DHA Golf Club Marina club for boating and have a dinner on it and National Stadium by SJAS organizing committee.
Sports Journalists Association Sindh (SJAS) holds annual Haleem Party and ceremony for SJAS Senior Members Nasar Iqbal and Alam Zeb who recently performed Hajj. Adviser to Chief Minister of Sindh on Law, Anti-Corruption Establishment, and information Barrister Murtuza Wahab was chief Guest. Murtaza Wahab said that behind the peace and stability, law & order in Pakistan especially in Sindh, sports journalists have put their untiring efforts to promote the country’s image. Promises which are made in past by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) to strengthen (SJAS), in Sindh Province will fulfilled soon. SJAS Patrons Dr Syed Junaid Ali Shah and Dr Farhan Essa was also present at the occasion. Syed Junaid Ali Shah said Only PPP could resolve the problems of journalists. President KPC, Ahmed Malik said that KPC will always stand with SJAS. Later, Secretary SJAS, Asghar Azeem and President SJAS, Tariq Aslam thanked all the participants.
Sports Journalists busy all the time in their work and seldom get free time. Sports Journalists Association Sindh (SJAS) have arranged a night picnic for their members at Al-Hadi Farm House, Gulshan-e-Maymaar, Karachi. Members played cricket, volleyball, Hand football, Dabbu and enjoyed swimming. Picnic organizing committee arranged delicious food and Live BBQ for members.
Sports Journalists Association Sindh (SJAS) delegation visited SJAS member Maqsood Ahmed who is facing tough times due to heart problems. Delegation consist of SJAS Secretary Asghar Azeem, Finance Secretary Irshad Ali and Executive committee member Shahid Satti. SJAS secretary given Cheque of Rs. 50,000 to Maqsood Ahmed for his treatment.
SJAS has arranged a get together with former footballers at KMC Stadium Karachi. Former Pak captain Ali Nawaz, FIFA referee Ahmed Jan, Incharge of Leisure Leagues Football Zaib Khan were also present. SJAS president Tariq Aslam, Secretary Asghar Azeem also asked questions about Football World Cup 2018 and promotion of football in Pakistan.A friendly match also played SJAS and Aurangzeb Junior football academy which was end on 1-1 draw.
Sports Journalists Association of Sindh (SJAS) observed the World Sports Journalists Day in Karachi on 2nd July. (SJAS) held a seminar entitled ‘News, Fake News & Our Responsibilities’. It was attended by a large number of sports journalists of the provincial metropolis. Sindh caretaker sports minister and SJAS Patron Dr Junaid Ali Shah also attended the seminar. Speaking on the occasion sports journalists highlighted the importance of releasing true news based on facts. Dr. Junaid Ali Shah said that sports journalists should bring forth the irregularities in sports. Senior Sports Journalists Abdul Majid Bhatti, Shahid Hashmi, Zubair Nazir, Mansoor Ali Baig, Abdul Rasheed Shakoor, Tariq Aslam, Nasar Iqbal and SJAS Secretary Muhammad Asghar Azeem also spoke on the occasion. National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Media Head Ibn-e-Hassan was also present on the occasion. Dr Junaid Ali Shah with cut the cake with senior journalists and SJAS members.
Sports Journalists Association Sindh (SJAS) presented a gold medal to the skipper of Pakistan cricket team Sarfraz Ahmed for his remarkable services at National Museum Auditorium, Karachi. SJAS organized a Gold Medal Presentation Ceremony to honor Sarfraz Ahmed and Presentation of 2nd Rashid Ali Siddiqui (Late) former president SJAS Talent Award. On the occasion, Sarfraz thanked SJAS for presenting him Gold Medal and congratulated all SJAS members for organizing such a great event. Sarfraz said that Rashid Ali Siddiqui (late) was a great human being, his services for sports in Sindh was respectful. Sindh Sports Minister and Patron SJAS, Syed Junaid Ali Shah presented Gold Medal to Pakistan Captain. SJAS also gave shields to their members Shahid Satti, Shahid Ansari, Arshad Wahab and Javed Iqbal as token of Appreciation for their services for SJAS. Former Test Cricketer Iqbal Qasim, Salahuddin Sallu, former KCCA President Ejaz Farooqui, Shafiq Kazmi, CPLC Chief and other dignitaries also graced the occasion.
The International Sports Press Association (AIPS) Asia has said that it will confer Sindh Sports Minister and Patron Sports Journalists Association of Sindh (SJAS), Syed Junaid Ali Shah with “The Best Sports Organizer of Pakistan” in November, 2018.
The announcement was made at a gathering, arranged by SJAS for its Patron, Syed Junaid Ali Shah on becoming a caretaker provincial minister for 2nd time. On this occasion, Secretary SJAS Asghar Azeem gave a letter from AIPS (ASIA) to Dr. Junaid, announcing that the global organization of sports journalists AIPS Asia has declared Dr. Junaid Ali Shah as the best sports organizer of Pakistan and the award will be given on the occasion of International Junior Sports Journalists Workshop, which will be held in Karachi in the first week of November this year, where journalists of more than 20 countries will participate.
On the occasion Dr. Junaid Ali Shah said, “My all efforts are for the sports only and it is my passion, for which my doors are always open for all sports lovers, oraganiser and sports journalists”.
The announcement of the Best organizer award is an honor for Pakistan and me as well, he added.
Junaid Ali Shah thanked SJAS for arranging the gathering for him and hailed their services.
President SJAS, Tariq Aslam, Senior Vice President, Zubair Nazeer Khan, Vice President Shahid Ali Khan, Ubaid Awan, Finance Sec Irshad Ali, international hockey player, Waseem Feroz, Vice President Sindh Olympic Association (SOA), Engr Mehfooz-ul-Haq, Patron SJAS, Farhan Essa and others are also present at the occasion.
