SJAS-SFP organised a session for sports journalist
The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Coaching
Clinic 2019 held at Karachi Gymkhana. The event features international coaches from Malaysia and Canada who
gave a presentation on the rules of baseball to the young coaches. On the opening day of the event, Softball Federation of Pakistan (SFP) in collaboration with Sports Journalists Association Sindh (SJAS) organised a session for sports journalists. The large number of media personals attended the camp with an aim to get awareness of the Baseball. forty (40) sports journalists participated in the event.
Micheal Renney said on the occasion that the coaching course Level I is important to strengthen the position of coaches to officiate the game. Renney also briefed the local men about the game’s rule and regulations.
The secretary of Softball Federation of Pakistan (SFP) Asif Azeem said that Baseball/Softball is progressing in Pakistan as more young people taking interest in it.
Patron SJAS, Dr Farhan Essa also hailed SJAS’ effort to organized a workshop for sports journalist is a good omen.
Later, all the reporters, who attended the workshop, were also handed over certificates.
The Sports Journalists Association of Sindh (SJAS) has decorated ace Pakistani tennis star Aqeel Khan with a gold medal for his remarkable services to the country. The gold medal presentation ceremony was staged during the 3rd (Late) Rashid Ali Siddiqui SJAS Talent Awards held at Karachi Gymkhana on 2nd August. In memory of late ex-Sindh Minister Dr Syed Muhammad Ali Shah, SJAS awarded another gold medal to senior sports journalist, Mirza Iqbal Baig, while the Rashid Ali Siddiqui Talent Awards were given to Pakistan women cricketer Fatima Sana Khan, Snooker player Zulfiqar Qadir, 8-year-old table tennis player Arham Bin Farrukh, special athlete Sajida Bibi, and table tennis 14 years old player Hoor Fawad. SJAS Special Awards went to Pakistan top tenpin bowling player Ali Soorya, Guinness World Record Holder Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts champion Mohammad Rashid Naseem, and Captain Pakistan Baseball Team Sheraz Asif.
SJAS also gave Journalists Awards to their members Yawar Abbas, Shahzaib Baig, Alam Zaib Safi, Shahzada Moin, Ali Hassan, Ehsan Khan, and presented SJAS Shelds EC Members Imtiaz Naranja, Mahmood Riaz, Sajjad Khan, Ubaid Awan, Shahid Ali Khan, Mohsin Raza Khan, Hasnain Anwer, Javed Iqbal, Ishaq Balloch, Umer Shaeen, and Kashif Ahmed Farooqui.
Former hockey Olympian and newly-appointed Chief Selector of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Manzoor Junior, SJAS Patrons Dr. Junaid Ali Shah, Dr Farhan Essa, Sindh Olympic Association secretary Ahmed Ali Rajput, KCCA ex-secretary Jamil Ahmed, Aslam Khan, Iqbal Munir, Alamgir Shaikh, Khalid Rehmani, Wajahat Siddiqui, Rao Javed Iqbal alongside other dignitaries, were present at the ceremony.
The International and Pakistani participants of AIPS Asia Youth Reporters Training Workshop along-with AIPS Asia Secretary Amjad Aziz Malik were taken to mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam, National Stadium, DHA Golf Club, Marina club for boating and dinner by SJAS organizing committee on day 1.
On Day 2 Journalists visited Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium, Quaid-e-Azam Residency Museum, Pakistan Sports Board, Karachi Hockey Association ground, Dolmen Mall Clifton and Dinner at Special Salateen Restaurant Bilawal House.
On Day 3 delegates had Dinner at Port Grand
On Day 4 visiting journalists are invited by Karachi Press Club for Lunch, after that they visited National Museum, Ferere Hall and played matches in Asghar Ali Shah Stadium
